Laboratory Leadership
The Key Laboratory of Atmospheric Ozone Pollution Prevention and Control of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment is jointly established by the College of Environmental Science and Engineering at Peking University, the Chengdu Academy of Environmental Sciences, the Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School, and the School of Atmospheric Sciences at Sun Yat-sen University. This collaboration forms an “integrated laboratory with three regional bases” innovation framework, dedicated to building a national platform for scientific research, technological innovation, and policy support in ozone pollution prevention and control.
Director: Prof. Keding Lu
Vice Dean of the College of Environmental Science and Engineering at Peking University; recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars; Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC).
Prof. Lu has long specialized in atmospheric free radical chemistry, high-sensitivity optical measurement techniques, and coordinated pollution and carbon reduction strategies. He has led multiple national key R&D programs and major NSFC projects, achieving a series of original research breakthroughs in atmospheric oxidation and ozone pollution formation mechanisms.
Deputy Director: Prof. Xin Li
Tenured Associate Professor at the College of Environmental Science and Engineering, Peking University; recipient of the National “Thousand Talents Program” (Youth).
His research focuses on online measurement of atmospheric reactive species and transformation pathways, advancing precise observation and mechanistic understanding of free radical chemistry.
Deputy Director and Chengdu Base Director: Dr. Qinwen Tan
Director of the Chengdu Academy of Environmental Sciences; Senior Research Engineer. He has long worked in air quality forecasting and early warning, formation mechanisms of composite air pollution, and climate change and environmental control strategies, providing strong technical support for regional environmental management and policy development.
Shenzhen Base Director: Prof. Xiaofeng Huang
Faculty member of Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School; recipient of the National Science Fund for Excellent Young Scholars. His research focuses on urban air pollution mechanisms and control strategies, with emphasis on composite pollution characteristics and coordinated regional mitigation in the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macau Greater Bay Area.
Zhuhai Base Director: Assoc. Prof. Haichao Wang
Faculty member of the School of Atmospheric Sciences, Sun Yat-sen University. He specializes in atmospheric measurement techniques and pollution formation analysis, focusing particularly on the chemical behavior and environmental impacts of reactive nitrogen species.

Laboratory Academic Committee
The laboratory has established an independent Academic Committee responsible for guiding strategic development, research planning, and innovation pathways. The committee reviews major research programs, evaluates scientific outcomes, promotes domestic and international academic collaboration, and ensures the scientific rigor, foresight, and overall excellence of the laboratory’s research agenda.
The Academic Committee consists of 14 distinguished experts in atmospheric science and environmental engineering.
Chair: Prof. Yuanhang Zhang
Vice Chair: Prof. Wenqing Liu
Members:Academician Jianmin Chen, Researcher Fahe Chai, Researcher Liangfu Chen, Prof. Shuiyuan Cheng, Prof. Aijun Ding, Prof. Yinchang Feng, Researcher Maofa Ge, Researcher Shanling Gong, Prof. Min Hu, Researcher Zifa Wang, Prof. Shuxiao Wang, Prof. Shaodong Xie, Researcher Gang Yan, Prof. Junyu Zheng.
The Committee convenes regularly to advise on research strategy, technical roadmaps, platform development, knowledge translation, and talent cultivation, providing sustained academic support for building the laboratory into a national center of excellence in ozone pollution prevention and control.
